Partnership will link Portland SEM professionals more closely to SEMPO classes and services

PORTLAND,Oregon, November 19, 2007 – SEMpdx, Portland’s professional search marketing network, www.sempdx.org., announced today it is partnering with the global Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO), www.sempo.org, to bring SEMPO’s distance learning program and other services to the Portland, Bend and Salem markets.

“SEMPO is a valuable partner in helping us put search on the map in Portland, and Portland on the map in search,” says Kent Lewis, President and co founder of SEMpdx, and owner of a Portland SEM agency, Anvil Media, Inc.

“We will be working with SEMPO to recruit SEMpdx members to join SEMPO and avail themselves of SEMPO’s many exclusive education and information benefits,” says Lewis. In particular, SEMPO Institute’s distance learning classes in SEM, Advanced SEO and Advanced Search Advertising are of great value to the Portland area’s SEM professionals looking to advance in their careers,” says Lewis. SEMPO members receive a discount on the class fees.

SEMPO’s proprietary annual survey of spending and best practices trends in the U.S. SEM market and its new salary survey of in-house SEM professionals are examples of customized data that can be used by Portland professionals to grow their businesses, says Lewis. The in-house salary survey results will be announced during Q4 2007.

Portland’s SEMpdx and SEMPO will also be teaming up on industry events, bringing SEMPO speakers to events such as the annual SEMpdx SearchFest in Portland, featuring national speakers. Visit https://www.sempdx.org/Events/SearchFest/SearchFest-08/ for more information.

“The timing is right for new partnership initiatives between SEMPO and the hundreds of SEM professionals in the Portland, Salem, Bend and SW Washington markets,” says Lewis. “This past year there has been a boom in the SEM business in the Portland market. Most SEM agencies are running at more than 100 percent capacity, driven in part by the evolution from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0. As a result, agencies are thriving.”

“We are not short of work in Portland,” says Lewis. “We are short of talent in a big way.”

One of SEMpdx’s initiatives, says Lewis, is to work with SEMPO Institute, www.sempoinstitute.com, to sign up Portland region professionals, and those interested in an SEM career, to grow the regional talent pool of knowledgeable SEM marketers.

“Portland’s need to develop more skilled SEM professionals is a perfect fit for SEMPO and SEMPO Institute,” says SEMPO President Jeffrey Pruitt. “SEMPO can provide the foundation of knowledge that will enable the Portland market to keep apace of business demand for SEM talent.”
