Last week, we announced that Searchfest tickets are now on sale for our March 10th event. There are a couple spots on our Searchfest Schedule that we intentionally left open. The “pending” slot we’ve got covered…we’ll announce that speaker in due time.
On our panel “Marketing 2.0 Issues: Online Reputation Management, The Dark Side of SMM”, we’ve announced two speakers: Marty Weintraub from Aim Clear Marketing (well-known in the search community) and Janet Johnson, a blogger & businesswoman well-known in the Portland Business Community. However, three people are supposed to be on the panel…and that’s where you come in.
We’re going to allow one lucky person from cyberspace to pitch their way onto the panel. We’re not going to be particularly formal about this…so long as you follow the rules below, it is entirely up to you how to go about making your pitch (and since this is social media, creativity will be rewarded).
Here are the rules:
1) Make your best pitch on your blog / website. We’ll need to know a little bit about your background and a brief synopsis of what aspect of this topic you wish to tackle. It’s cool to push the boundaries of the topic a bit…however, non-SMM topics won’t be considered.
2) Comment in this post that you wish to be considered for the speaking spot and link to your pitch from the comments.
3) If you wish to do something above and beyond your pitch that you’ve linked to in our comments that would support your candidacy, by all means go for it.
4) You are responsible for all your own expenses in attending our Portland Conference.
The SEMpdx Board knows that it’s frequently tough to land a conference speaking gig (especially if you’ve never spoken before and you’re not well known in the search community) and we want to have some fun in filling our final speaking spot.
Contact me if you have questions. Deadline is 1/24 with a winner to be announced shortly thereafter.
Update: Contest is over: Lisa Williams is the winner.
Todd Mintz knows PPC…knows Social Media…knows SEO…knows Blogging…knows Domaining…and knows them all real well. He runs growth marketing for )and is also a Director & Founding Member of SEMpdx: Portland, Oregon’s Search Engine Marketing Association, and he can be found here on Twitter and Facebook.
Ooh, Great idea.
I can’t wait to see/hear from the contenders. I am up for a big, interactive panel discussion.
Way to tee it up, team!
It’s great that you’re offering one of the panelist spots for their Social Media Marketing panel for SearchFest to the best pitch. Best of luck to other entries!
Since I do so love my top 10 lists, here it is:
