Roger Monti: Stay away from link networks that have a pattern.
Roger: Good to bring link-building in-house because building good links takes time.
Rae: Link-builders should give you a good idea as for organic ideas to generate links…stay away from long-term contracts.
Roger: Think about ideal sites where you want the link from and build that site yourself.
Debra Masteler: Need to continually think of ways to generate new and unique links.
Rae: Don’t overdo Forum links…forums is more about interacting…less than 20% of posts should have commercial intent.
Roger: Put your signature in the link but never refer to your site.
Debra: OK to drop links in forums so long as total transparency exists.
Roger: Excellent content is a link development strategy.
Rae: Easiest way to get into DMOZ is to pay an editor.
Debra: Look for niche directories…they carry lots of weight.
Debra: For link exchange emails, try to find commonality with the person you are soliciting.
Rae: Work with people for cross-promotion, as opposed to just offering a link exchange.
Debra: Emails for links must be personally addressed. Even use snail mail.
Debra: Relies on alert services for links.
Debra: Connect with the authors of the stories that get promoted on Digg.
Rae: Create a Twitter account that tells people how to use a particular product…that will get you lots of attention and links.
