1) Please give us your background and let us know what you do for a living.
I am the Head of SEO at 3Q Digital and I’ve been working in SEO at an agency level for almost 10 years.
2) How have your typical SEO engagements evolved over the last 3-5 years?
Client challenges have continued to get more complex as we experience greater erosion in the above-the-food organic real estate. Client asks have simply become more interdisciplinary and we’ve had to expand our offering in order to keep up with market changes and client demand. Today, there is no standard SEO engagement because a one size fits all approach just isn’t sufficient anymore.
3) As we’ve worked together before, I know that your employer is best known for managing Paid Media. How do you effectively cross-sell SEO to clients that engage with your agency for different services?
We have to use language that they understand: paid search. It’s not about either channel in a vacuum; we need to talk to clients about how the two need to work together in order to make both channels more effective. Marketing budgets aren’t bottomless pits so we try to provide compelling data about how we can best make the most of their budget and SEO is often a core part of that strategy.
