1) Please give us your background and let us know what you do for a living.
I’ve been doing digital marketing and SEO since 2007. Have worked in-house at various startups and larger companies before deciding to go agency side. My day to day is managing our operations at local SEO guide, handling account management for key accounts, coaching our operational staff and doing all his of fun SEO research.
2) What are the Top 3 Mistakes businesses make that impact their Local Search Rankings?
Thinking about local search as somehow different from traditional organic search. The organic algo has been a huge driver or local packs for a while now, link building has been a competitive pack differentiator and lots of multi-location brands can really clean up focusing on driving local organic traffic. SEO is SEO, local SEO is SEO with a few extra particulars layered on top.
3) How can businesses generate higher review volume without breaking the rules?
Ask for reviews, and have a solid review strategy. Yelp is the only review source that doesn’t let you ask for reviews. Just to be crystal clear, you should be asking for reviews. Yelp is an outlier and must less important than Google My Business for most local business types.
