The number of places where I can promote our SEMpdx events has exploded recently. For those of you who need to promote your own events online, perhaps my list would be of value to you:
Facebook: I promote each event to the members of our SEMpdx Facebook group as well as to the Portland network as a whole. If you haven’t joined our Facebook, I strongly recommend it.
Meetup.com: Meetup has introduced us to quite a few folks that we might have not known otherwise. You can view our Portland SEO Meetup Page here
Google Base: Kinda lame that Google Base listings expire automatically in 14 days instead of after the event, so one has to republish events placed in the system more thnan 14 days early.
Yahoo’s Upcoming: Reasonably new and a very nice setup.
Craigslist: The most obvious place to post an event.
Kijiji: Brand New alternative to Craigslist…not much action yet.
Zvents: Just discovered it…no track record.
Sphinn: Has a SEO/SEM Calendar Section.
Biznik: Brand New
The Portland Oregonian & Portland Business Journal also list our events since we are a non-profit organization.
Portland Business Alliance (since we are members).
Also, we heavily promote our events through our email newsletter.
Todd Mintz knows PPC…knows Social Media…knows SEO…knows Blogging…knows Domaining…and knows them all real well. He runs growth marketing for )and is also a Director & Founding Member of SEMpdx: Portland, Oregon’s Search Engine Marketing Association, and he can be found here on Twitter and Facebook.
If your looking for a cheap way to promote or sell tickets online you should checkout the Facebook application Viral Events. https://www.viralevents.net. Viral Events does NOT charge a per ticket transaction fee for selling tickets like most companies and offers some nice tools for promoting your event from within Facebook.
