Cecily will be attending SearchFest 2011, which will take place on February 23rd at the Governor Hotel in Portland, Oregon. Tickets are available now. To purchase, please click the following link.
1) Please give us your background and tell us what you do for a living.
I’m from the UK, I moved to the US in 1995 and became interested in the internet at that time. Being able to communicate globally via this new medium of email was amazing to me. Just prior to moving here I worked on a project with Nature Magazine where they were converting all their magazines to CD using SGML. That was my introduction to the creation of digital content and hypertext linking, and I was quite intrigued. I got a job as an SEO in 1999 and since 2004 have been running my own business, CCSEO, specializing in SEM, web analytics & usable web design and development https://www.ccseo.com/
2) You’ve traveled to Portland to attend SearchFest before and you’re returning to our next conference. Please talk about your prior SearchFest experience.
This will be my third SearchFest. My first experience of SearchFest blew me away. I had been going to SMX Advanced the couple of years prior, and in comparison, I felt the quality of the SearchFest conference, the variety of topics and the knowledge and expertise of the speakers matched my experience of SMX Advanced. The sessions were both informative and stimulating. An added bonus is that SearchFest is very affordable, and being smaller than SMX, is more intimate. The team at SEMpdx do a great job of organizing and presenting the event, and I’ve found the atmosphere at SearchFest to be very friendly and supportive.
3) Please look over the schedule (https://www.sempdx.org/searchfest/2011-agenda/) and give us your top 3 sessions you are looking most forward to seeing.
It is always hard for me to pin down the sessions I want to go to, there is so much on offer, and sometimes it’s so hard to choose between concurrent sessions it pretty much comes down to flipping a coin. This year is no exception, the top 3 sessions I’m most looking forward to are: Advanced Linkbuilding (but would also like to go to Social Media & Tactics); Advanced PPC; and I’m completely torn between Mobile Marketing Strategies & Tactics and the Advanced Analytics, so that may have to be a last minute coin toss.
